Thoughts
It’s rather fun,
It makes me laugh
To watch my brain
Go off its path.
I reign it in
And start again,
Once I realize
Where it’s been.
Instead of feeling
Any despair
I just tell my mind,
“Do not go there.”
I take control
Of my every thought,
For peace of mind
Cannot be bought.
I guide and coax
And tell it where,
Sometimes warn,
“Don’t you dare!”
For I’ve traveled that road
Many a time,
To imagined scenarios
The mind is inclined.
The worry or fear
Can get out of hand,
So I choose to be calm,
Confidence is my brand.
Now I stop
At the slightest turn
And make that shift,
For I have learned
The joy of controlling
My feelings and thoughts,
Directing my mind
Towards the desired plot.
For they are mine
And mine to choose.
When I rig the game,
I cannot lose.
I prefer to live
In the here and now,
Enjoy the present
Since I’ve learned how.
Or let my mind
Soar far and sigh
With thoughts of joy
That keep me high.
Or let thoughts go
To clean my slate,
Then feel the bliss
As I meditate.
So simple and powerful,
Both fun and constructive,
Aware I’ve discovered
My best life to live!
